AI system for court case file analysis for a law firm

Problem

Finding the needed information within extensive case files — the course of proceedings, parties’ arguments, prior arrangements, or similar cases — took lawyers a lot of time and required manually searching through documents.

Solution

We built a system that lets lawyers ask questions about a case’s content in natural language, and that automatically generates case file summaries and event timelines. The system can also point out contradictions between different filings within the case file. Every answer cites the document and passage it’s based on, and the system refuses to answer if there’s no basis for it in the case file — a key requirement given the risk of incorrect information in legal work.

The system also included additional features supporting the firm’s daily work: drafting documents and transcribing hearing recordings.
